Media Wall Fireplaces FAQ
Is it safe to mount a TV above a bioethanol fireplace?
Yes. Our BEV® fireplace inserts are designed for installation below a wall-mounted television. The Forma casing includes a deflector and Zero Clearance insulation. The Panorama encloses fire behind glass with an integrated heat channelling system. BEV® inserts without a casing require a minimum 900 mm clearance between the fireplace and the TV, with non-combustible materials in the surrounding area or a hot air exhaust system. What is the minimum distance between the fireplace and the TV?
For BEV® inserts without a casing or deflector: 900 mm from the top edge of the fireplace to the bottom of the TV. For the Forma casing with deflector: follow manufacturer specifications (typically reduced clearance due to the integrated heat management system). For water vapour inserts: no minimum clearance restriction. For side-mounted TV: 400 mm from the fireplace (standard wall) or 200 mm (recessed fireplace).
Can I use wood or combustible materials around a media wall fireplace?
With a Forma casing: yes. The Zero Clearance double-layer construction with air gap insulation keeps the outer surface cool, allowing combustible materials (wood, MDF, panelling) to be used around the fireplace and above it. Without a casing: only non-combustible materials may be used in the area immediately surrounding the BEV® insert. Water vapour and electric inserts have no combustibility restrictions.
Does a media wall fireplace need a chimney or flue?
No. All our media wall fireplaces (BEV® bioethanol, water vapour, and electric) operate without a chimney, flue, or gas connection. BEV® inserts require adequate room ventilation as specified in the installation manual. Water vapour and electric inserts have no ventilation requirement.
What is the NEX Media Wall?
The NEX Media Wall is our motorised multimedia system that integrates a fireplace and television into one wall unit. A sliding mechanism raises the TV to reveal the fireplace or lowers it to a comfortable viewing height (100–120 cm from the floor). Compatible with BEV® bioethanol and water vapour fireplaces. Customisable in dimensions and surface finish (66 Dekton options or custom cladding). Safety features include anti-pinch, flame-on, and temperature sensors.
Can I install a media wall fireplace in an apartment?
Yes. Our media wall fireplaces require no chimney, no flue, and no structural modification, making them suitable for apartments, high-rise buildings, and rented properties. BEV® inserts produce no smoke, no soot, and no ash. Water vapour inserts produce no heat and no emissions. Our solutions are compatible with buildings with heat recovery ventilation (HRV) systems.
Media Wall Fireplaces
Our media wall fireplace is a built-in fireplace designed to sit beneath, beside, or integrated with a wall-mounted television as part of a single multimedia wall arrangement. They are also available in a freestanding configuration. We offer media wall fireplaces in three technologies: BEV® bioethanol fireplaces for real flames with no chimney, water vapour fireplaces for a safe touchable flame effect with no heat output, and electric fireplaces for a maintenance-free 3D LED flame with optional built-in heating. All three technologies require no chimney, no flue, and no gas connection, making them suitable for apartments, new builds, renovations, and commercial interiors where a traditional fireplace is not feasible.
Our BEV Technology® (Burning Ethanol Vapours) vaporises bioethanol fuel before ignition, producing real open flames that are safe to install directly below a television when correct clearances and deflector requirements are followed. Our NEX Media Wall is a motorised multimedia system that combines a fireplace and television into a single unit with an automated sliding mechanism, resolving the common problem of uncomfortable viewing angles when a TV is mounted above a fireplace.

BEV® Fireplaces with Dedicated Media Wall Casings
FORMA: BEV® fireplace with a dedicated casing made from non-combustible materials using Zero Clearance technology. The double-layer construction with an air gap keeps the outer surface cool, allowing combustible materials (including wood panelling) around the fireplace and a television directly above. The Forma kit includes a deflector that directs hot air away from AV equipment.
FLOGS BOX: BEV® fireplace with a dedicated Zero Clearance casing, purpose-built for the FLA4 FLOGS / FLOGS+ burner and its integrated log-effect design. Available in 800 mm and 1000 mm sizes, in Single-Sided, Left Corner, Right Corner, and Three-Sided configurations, with Standard, In-room Vent, or Flue connection venting. The zero-clearance construction allows close-proximity TV mounting and integration into combustible structures.
NEO FIREPLACE: BEV® fireplace with a dedicated zero-clearance casing, purpose-built for the Neo Burner. Built-in installation only, with no flue required. Available in 500 mm, 750 mm, and 1000 mm sizes, in Single-Sided, Left Corner, Right Corner, and Three-Sided configurations.
PANORAMA: Glass-enclosed BEV® fireplace (1,200 mm). Fire fully enclosed behind tempered glass with integrated hot air channelling system. Ideal for media walls where direct heat deflection from the fireplace is required.
Electric Casings for Media Walls
Astro: 3D LED electric insert with customisable multi-zone colour control. Four lengths, four glazing options (single-sided, two-sided left, two-sided right, three-sided). Built-in Heatflow heating at 1,500 W or 3,000 W. Requires only a standard electrical connection. Direct replacement for a wood-burning stove in a media wall arrangement.
NEX Media Wall: Motorised Fireplace and Television System
The NEX Media Wall is our motorised multimedia system that combines a fireplace and a television into a single integrated wall unit. The NEX Media Wall uses an automated sliding mechanism: with a single command, the TV panel glides upward to reveal the fireplace beneath, or lowers to an optimal viewing height (100–120 cm from the floor, approximately 15° viewing angle) to prevent the neck strain associated with traditional TV-over-fireplace mounting.
The NEX Media Wall is compatible with both BEV® bioethanol fireplaces (real flame) and water vapour fireplaces (flame effect, no heat). The ventilation system prevents TV overheating and moisture buildup: warm air rises from the bottom, flows behind the fireplace and TV for even heat distribution, and optional ventilation modules enhance efficiency. When closed, the panel acts as a safety barrier preventing access to the fireplace interior.
The NEX Media Wall is fully customisable in height, width, and depth. Cladding options include 66 Dekton finish options or custom materials supplied by the designer. Safety sensors include an anti-pinch sensor (prevents closing on obstacles), a flame-on sensor (keeps the fireplace area open when fire is active), and a temperature sensor with audible alerts.
How to Mount a TV Above Our Fireplace
A television can be mounted above any of our BEV® fireplace inserts, provided the correct clearances and heat management measures are followed. We provide detailed installation diagrams for each mounting scenario in the media wall installation guide. The key configurations are:
TV Above a Forma Casing (Simplest Installation)
The Forma casing is manufactured from non-combustible materials with Zero Clearance technology. The double-layer construction with an air gap insulates the outer surface, keeping it cool. The included deflector directs hot air away from AV equipment above. Combustible materials (wood, MDF) can be used around the fireplace. This is the simplest and safest configuration for a media wall with real fire.
TV Above a Panorama Fireplace
The Panorama fully encloses the fire behind tempered glass. An integrated channelling system directs hot air inside the casing and exhausts it through an upper vent, preventing direct heat flow toward the television above.
TV Above a BEV® Insert Without Casing
BEV® inserts (FLA4, FLA4 FLOGS, Prime Fire 2.0, Neo Burner) can be installed beneath a television without a dedicated casing. Two standard configurations apply: TV in a recess (the shelf acts as a deflector), or TV mounted on the wall with a separate 100 mm deflector. In both cases, the minimum distance between the top edge of the fireplace and the TV is 900 mm. Only non-combustible materials may be used within the immediate vicinity of the insert. For installations with a hot air exhaust system, the distance between the top edge of the fireplace and the TV can be reduced to 600 mm.
TV Beside the Fireplace
A television can be mounted beside the fireplace on the same wall. Minimum clearance from the fireplace to the edge of the TV is 400 mm for a standard wall installation, or 200 mm if the fireplace is installed in a recess. No deflector is required for side-mounted configurations.
Electric Insert Below a TV
Electric inserts (Astro) include built-in Heatflow heating with front vents that direct warm air forward and downward, away from the wall surface above. Standard manufacturer clearances apply.
Glass Panels and Enclosure Types
BEV® fireplace inserts (FLA4, Prime Fire 2.0) are equipped with glass panels that protect the fire line from air movement that could cause automatic shut-off. In standard enclosure configurations (Single Sided, Left Corner, Right Corner, Three Sided), low 50 mm glass panels are mounted directly on the insert. In Room Divider, Island, and Tunnel configurations, 200 mm glass panels are mounted front and reverse of the burner. For multi-sided multimedia walls, combine the FLA4 or Prime Fire 2.0 with an additional frame and integrated high glass screens on each side.
Why Specify Our Media Wall Fireplace?
Our media wall fireplaces require no chimney, no flue, and no gas connection. BEV® inserts install into any wall material with no structural modification. How to Choose the Right Media Wall Fireplace
The right media wall fireplace depends on four factors: flame type requirement (real flame, flame effect, or LED), installation complexity, TV mounting configuration, and budget.
Real Flame: Linear Media Wall with TV Above
The FLA4 is the primary choice for a linear real-flame media wall with a TV mounted above. For the simplest, safest installation with combustible materials around the fireplace, specify the Forma casing with included deflector. For a glass-enclosed alternative with integrated heat management, choose the Panorama. For a budget-friendly compact media wall, the Neo Burner starts from €1860.
Real Flame: Multi-Sided or Room Divider Media Wall
The FLA4 or Prime Fire 2.0 combined with the Fireplace with Frame and Glass system is the correct choice for tunnel, room divider, or island media wall configurations where the fire is visible from multiple sides.
Real Flame: Motorised TV and Fireplace in One Unit
The NEX Media Wall is the correct choice for an integrated motorised system where the TV slides to reveal the fireplace and lowers to optimal viewing height. Electric: Maintenance-Free Media Wall with Heating
